This is the official library of Jamia Millia Islamia. This place posses large volumes of books on various subjects from social science, humanities, science, engineering, technology and many more. This is also attached with a spacious reading hall, reference section, thesis section and digital unit. The services are exclusive to university students while outsiders are allowed with valid permission requirements.
I've joined this university in 2016...and since then...I proudly say that this the most peaceful library.... the vibe matches with ur prsnlty....... and the cool atmosphere is top notch
Very wide and large. With over 4 lakh books and spread around 1 lakh square ft, this library is everything Jamia students will need to boost up their academic performance. Books have been categorised and well maintained in its particular shelves with latest publication. The Library quite spacious, clean and beautiful. Perfect for having a great study time.
Dr Zakir Husain Library is the university's central library. Established in 1920, it was named after Dr. Zakir Husain, former President of India and Jamia's former Vice-Chancellor in 1973. Originally housed in the old building with an area of 23,038 sq.ft, the library has developed as the university evolved (deemed university in 1962 and central university in 1988). The new building was planned in 2003, and the library shifted to its present premises in 2009. The new library has a carpet area of 9,930 sq. mtrs (1,06,850 sq. ft.). A stacks capacity for about 6 lakh books and a seating capacity for 1275 users, including Reading Hall Annexe in the old building. The library is air-conditioned and equipped with the new technology for efficient functioning. The Digital Resource Centre facilitates access to e-Journals and other in-house digitized e-resources. Learning Centre for Differently Abled provides support to visually impaired students through assistive technology. Online Catalogue provides bibliographic access to library's integrated computerized catalogue of English, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic and Persian books.
