Infrastructure is not good. You will feel suffocating while reading at the basement. It is not airy. And also there are no AC in the library. The toilet is also not upto the mark. Only good thing is the water cooler and the collection of books. Not good for self study
A good public library. Wide range of books available here. Dedicated study rooms as well. But the staff is quite annoying and not helpful at all.
This review of for Lal Bahadur Shashtri Library (pvt), 2nd Floor. Above Delhi Public Library Vinobapuri. The ambience is quiet and air conditioned. There are days when it can get crowded, but on average there will be sufficient seats even for late comers... The crowd lessens toward 3pm. Timings are from 10am to 5 pm, 7 days a week, except gazette holidays. There are books here for competitive exams and literatures, which can be accessed freely. One can issue these books by placing a refundable deposit of Rs 200, for 7 days max. There are two reading halls, two washrooms, and an open balcony to stretch your arms and legs. However there is no place in the library for lunching. You will have to sit outside or on the stairs for your meals. Refrigerated drinking water is also available. Most of the students here are preparing for competitive exams like UPSC, SSC, NEET etc. The fee for the library is Rs500 for 6 months and 1000 for a year. One needs to fillup the application form which is available from the counter for Rs 10. No attestations required.
It's a public library and we all know very few government organizations are well developed and well maintained in India. Being a Delhi government's property, it's quite okay. Some staffs are quite cooperative and very few are rude; better not to point out any one of them publicly. Location: Vinobapuri, New Delhi - 110024 Best conveyance: Delhi Metro - Exit via Gate No. 1 at Vinobapuri and walk just for 2 minutes. Library is located on the right hand side while going from the Gate No. 1 of Vinobapuri Metro Station. Study Timing: 09:00 AM - 06:45 PM How to join: *For Delhi residents (Locals having Delhi's Aadhar), the membership charge is Rs 20 valid for 5 years. *For people outside of Delhi, there's a one time deposit of Rs 3000, fully refundable through cheque while terminating the membership (after completing at least 6 months of joining). Facilities: *Separate Lavatories for male and female, located inside the library; looks like a public toilet at a bus stop or railway station. *Cold but unhygienic drinking (municipality supply) water; the water cooler does not seem to be cleaned for long. *There's a separate reading hall (Non-AC) for general in the basement and separate for kids on the ground floor. *No new edition books are available, but you can get different daily newspapers and enough GK books. *30 minutes Free Internet uses on the library's desktop is available for students. *There's an open space (not so clean) for having lunch or to walk for being relaxed during the library visit. Remarks: Better for short time visit. Overall it's okay! Please maintain cleanliness if you join any public library. It's our moral responsibility. Note: There's a private A/C library, named, Lal Bahadur Shastri Library, operated by a committee on the second floor in the same building. There's a one time non-refundable charge of Rs 1500 for a year and Rs 10 for the registration form. It's kinda reading room only. If you want to issue some books from there, you'll need to pay a separate deposit of Rs 200 which is refundable while leaving/terminating the membership. Thank you for reading the review!
A very well stop for the book worms. Although anyone can come here to read books up from children to old age people. The only thing you need to do is to issue a library card from here for which you need to fill a form. After filling up the form they'll provide you a library card which you can use to issue books for your home. This library is divided into children section and the normal section having appropriate books for each age group. This place has space to read and study for students. For that space you'll not be charged any penny. But the thing is you'll not have a AC environment. If you want study to in an AC environment you'll need to get a new card issued from the 2nd floor which is paid. You'll need to pay for it accordingly. They will make you a yearly or half yearly subscription card for about rs. 1000 to rs. 1500.
